It all started… Nah. I’m cheesy, but not THAT cheesy. I’m like most of you. I grew up hunting and fishing. My family has a farm that allowed me to spend countless hours running through fields and trees, chasing after the critters that lived there. I am also fortunate enough to have lived on the Manistee river in Michigan, one of the best fishing rivers in the Midwest. Add to that having family in Alaska who guide on the world famous Kenai river and I’m spoiled when it comes to fishing. I am extremely lucky enough to have found a wife in Brandie, who not only enjoys the outdoors as much as I do, but challenges me to spend even more time in the wild. One of the things I noticed from my youth was that I liked to know how things worked. I was always taking stuff apart and putting it back together, usually with a pile of parts left over. The older I got, the more gear-crazed I became. I spent countless hours pouring over catalogs and magazines. A habit I still have. Having been there and had things fail on me while in the field drives me to know what I can about every option out there. Hours of research and testing goes into everything I have and if I use it, it works. I am not easy on anything I use and what you get from a product review is a real-world assessment of a product’s abilities and limitations. Am I a little obsessed? Maybe, but like you, when I plunk down my hard-earned money for something I want to know it works. This site is a merger of my content and Brandie's geek skills. I write about the products and she built and maintains the website. We also offer a variety of services to other outdoor business and enthusiasts. Thanks for stopping by and by all means, stay in touch Good Hunting and Tight Lines, Derrek Sigler |
