"Big Time" Answers

Jimmy I had the unique opportunity to speak with Jimmy "Big Time." Here is what he had to say about hunting, his life and his show.

  1. When did Jimmy Miller first go Big Time?
Out of the womb. I was tagged out upon entry into this world. Our local Minnesota paper spent a whole section of that day’s birth announcements on my momma’s labor. I was so Big Time, the doctor wouldn’t slap me after I was born – out of respect.
  2. I understand that you've actually broken the World Record for Whitetail deer several times, but have not had it officially recorded out of respect for Milo Hanson. Does the outdoor community completely comprehend the depths of your generosity?
Milo Hanson was great as one of the brothers in the movie ‘Slapshot,’ but let’s be honest, he couldn’t measure up a cup of sugar. Jimmy Big Time has broken every record out there, and I can’t help that there was no photographic evidence, camera, witnesses, verification of any kind – or that I lost the actual trophy buck itself each time on the way back to the truck. Fact is, I did it. I know I did it. I don’t need records to define me, except for my 8-track of John Denver’s Greatest Hits. I love that one.
  3. I recently saw an article talking about how Fred Bear, Art Young and Saxon Pope would view recent advancements in archery equipment. How do you think they would view Jimmy Big Time?
I think that if they saw how I hit targets from 80 yards out using a bow fashioned out of a piece of gum, floss and a bent toothpick, they’d think pretty highly of me. Frankly, I’m the MacGyver of hunting.  By the way, Fred Bear, Art Young and Saxon Pope sound like 1970s Minnesota Vikings linemen. Are they football players?
  4. How do you feel about part of the World Record for largemouth bass being held in Japan? What will you do about this?
Well, first of all…Japan’s surrounded by water…so…that’s an unfair advantage. Secondly, they probably stole it. Thirdly, I hate wasabi, that green stuff that’s all hot and burns your nose so bad that brain fluid comes out.  What was the question again?
  5. What was the best part of sharing your life and genius with a television audience this past season?
The best part is when people on the street confuse me for George Clooney. That’s the best part.
  6. Can you give us a hint of what to expect from season 2?
Expect greatness. Expect to re-learn everything you ever knew about the outdoors. Expect pain, heartache, love and one man’s journey to be the best outdoor television celebrity in the history of the medium. Expect big bucks, monster fish, high quality production with ZERO mistakes. Expect a top-notch Big Time crew and expect perfection. Always.
  7. When I am giving the lowdown on something, I call it the Outwrite Truth. Can you give me the Outwrite Truth on Jimmy Big Time?
I don’t understand a word you just said, but I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors, I truly do. Who do I make this 8x10 autograph photo out to?
